(no subject)

I am so ready for my cold to be over.....Ean has a runny nose again and is still coughing- mostly at night and in the morning. Kinda like me! I tell him every time he coughs and whimpers, "I know, buddy. It hurts!" This cough is horrible- it does really hurt- it feels like my lungs are tearing!
The boys are eating solids regularly at night now. My MIL is sending me a food processor (THANKS!!) and I am going to start making their food. I am a little on the obsessed side with what goes into them. (I am really weird, I know. Soon they will be eating french fries and I will be wondering what happened!) The boys have tried organic sweet potatoes, carrots, and peas. Below I will post E eating sweet potatoes for the first time. By first time, I mean actually eating, which he has now caught on to. I am thinking about giving them rice cereal in the morning. The doc said after they start eating regularly at night- to then move on to breakfast and dinner.
Naps are a complete joke here. I don't know what to do. And frankly, I am sick of researching and reading what to do. (SHOCKER I KNOW!) This is because I personally do not believe in listening to them wail. At night, if I had done that to get them to sleep (cry it out, ferberize) they would never have slept! All they needed is for me to go in there and touch them or mostly replace their pacifiers. They needed something! Listening to them cry wouldn't have solved their problem. The boys are sleeping wonderfully at night! Almost 5 months and they sleep about 10-12 hours a night. They have only ever fussed at night. They have either worked it out with a little fussing or if it got louder I would go in and see them. They have never really "cried" If they ever really did I would pick them up and bring them to bed with me and then replace them in the crib later. This worked and gave me SLEEP!
As for naps, they do wail! I don't know what the difference is. At the first sign of fatigue, yawning or droopy eyes, I pick them up and bring them to the nursery. They awaken as soon as I leave the room and scream. This has NEVER happened at night. They have fallen asleep after some fighting every time, but they sleep for 20-30 minutes. EVERY baby I have ever known takes 1-2 hour naps twice a day. Not my babies. I will say if when sleepy, I move them to their swings, they will nap in them for 1-2 hours. And I have done that a few times this week. That is basically all we use their swings for anymore. It will work out.....
Q is still rolling on to his stomach and then crying in frustration. E rolls the opposite way but only does it when he feels like it. E is on the floor laughing hysterically at something- oddly enough there is nothing around him! (he is turned staring at his bumbo close up)

E with his frog blanket. Q has a lion one- they LOVE them!

Weekend

The wine and cheese soiree was really fun! The boys slept most of the time. Ean danced with our friend Denise. Chris wore a sport jacket and it was hilarious because he was dead serious about it.

Ashlyn between the boys!
We ran around this weekend- to the mall, the North Pole, Sam's, etc.....It takes forever to go anywhere!
Quinn is laughing now. It is hard to remember they are 2 different people and can't possibly do everything at the same time. Ean smiles and looks amused a lot, but hasn't really laughed. Quinn thinks Chris is hilarious.
We are hovering around 5 hours at night and they are only 2 months old. I am thrilled. It is odd though because during the day they can barely make it 3 hours before the next feeding.

This is a 2 months old photo. The weirdest thing happened with this. I was using the rattles to practice tracking with them. I took each rattle and laid it in the middle of each of their chests when I was done. I left the room for something and when I came back they were both holding them in their arms. Weird! (to me at least)

Here is Ean after a bath in his duck towel. I took it without a flash cause it was too bright with it.
Yesterday after church we were having lunch at Jason's Deli. On the way out, Chris commented that he wondered why people assumed we were deaf since we had twins. I asked why. He said because he passed a woman that said, "oh, that must be terrible!" or something along the lines of the horrible life we must have. He was mad but then said people probably just feel bad. I think he was positive about it because earlier at church a choir member came up to us and said he had twin girls and it was fun and it will be a blessing to bring them up. Chris told him thank you because all people ever say is how rough and hard it will be and it felt good to hear something positive for once!
Boys go to the doctor tomorrow for their two month cehck up and first shots!

Decorating the tree

Last night we went to the church to help decorate the 80 ft tree in the entryway. Our Sunday school class is responsible for it every year. They ordered pizza and we untangled lights. Truthfully, I socialized more than anything- I am really only good at supervision and they seemed to have enough already. Chris got right up on the ladder though- straight to work. The boys slept in their carriers next to the tree with all the other babies (the Jankowski twins were there also)
We fed them at 11:00 pm again but did not get to sleep until 12:00am. Finn had some issue at 2:30 in the morning and had to go out. He would not come back in- must have been the cat from across the street. Then Ean woke up at 3 fussing. Not his hungry cry. By 4:15 he wanted to eat and Quinn was stirring. After that feeding this morning, Quinn decided it was his turn to cry- scream more accurately- must have been gas. I was half asleep, so I hugged him real close and rocked back and forth until he fell asleep or I did, whichever. They just ate again at 8:30 and are both sleeping on and off in their Boppys on the bed next to me. I am tired!
Tonight we are going to a "wine and cheese" party at Josh and Christy's. We are bringing the boys. It's a family party. I am excited to see Sydney. I am getting my eyebrows and hair cut before.

Two months old

Quinn & Ean are 2 months old today!
Ironically, I almost had a breakdown last night. I was really tired and they would not stop crying. For some reason they were really hungry cause when we finally broke down and fed them early, they both sucked it down like they were starved. Now they are crying again this morning! For the first time, Chris made me mad. He started freaking out right at the beginning of their crying and really losing his temper. It had only been a short while and I listened to it all day. I didn't think it was fair that when I was tired and upset myself for good reason, I had to worry about and calm him down.
I fell asleep instantly after the boys' last feeding. Ean woke at 3:30- not to eat, just to fuss and make weird noises for the second night in a row. He slept with me and his pacifer until 5. So, another 11-5 night.
Developmental milestones for 2 months:
SHOULD BE ABLE-
*smile in response to your smile- both, but right now grumpy Quinn smiles more!!
*respond to bell in some way- both for sure, they startle all the time
PROBABLY BE ABLE-
*vocalize in some way other than crying- absolutely, and for a while now, they never shut up and make the weirdest grunts and noises!
*lift head 45 degrees while on stomach- both and we work on it at Tummy Time!
MAY BE ABLE TO-
*hold head steady when held upright- Quinn really well, Ean not as much
*on stomach raise chest supported by arms- don't think so, but will have to check!
*roll over one way- no
*grasp a rattle held to backs or tips of fingers- I think so
*pay attention to object as small as raisin- have to try that out
*reach for object- both, but they always miss
*say ah-goo or other vowel/consonant combo- both just a couple of times
MAY POSSIBLY BE ABLE-
*smile spontaneously- not sure, they smile a lot
*bring both hands together- Quinn sits with his hands together, he feels it adds to the Buddha mystique
*on stomach lift head 90 degrees- Ean did that the other night, not Quinn though
*laugh out loud- no but on the verge
*squeal in delight- no
*follow an object 6 in away and moved 180 degrees and follows the whole way- maybe, they were both tracking really well last night
Photos to follow! I am lying down for a nap- even if it is 9:30 am!

JCP Portraits

Yesterday we picked up our portraits from Jacque Penne. We had an exact time we had to be there- 5:05. I wondered why cause we already payed and everything. It ended up being because they printed 3 extra sheets that they claimed I could have for the very low price of $17.99. I was SO tempted. One was a calendar sheet. But that would defeat my coupon of sheets for $3.99. We got 11 sheets for around $45. Two other people checked out while we were there and were both almost $200. They got them!
The boys slept again from 11:30-5 am. I am gonna get used to that! Ean woke up fussing at 1:30. Not to eat just his mad cry. I don't think he feels well again. His nose was clogged. I think Chris gave it back to them. He kissed all over them when he was sick.
Today I have to take the boys out by myself. What a fiasco. But I will get used to it.
